Overview

A defense program needed unified situational awareness across systems that did not talk to each other. The platform ingests streaming data from 15 operational systems, applies real-time transformations and anomaly detection, and presents role-based dashboards for operators, analysts, and executive leadership.

The Challenge

Program leadership lacked unified visibility into operational status, with data scattered across 15 disconnected systems each with different formats, update frequencies, and access methods. Analysts spent hours manually compiling reports from multiple sources, and decision-makers often worked with stale data. There was no capability for real-time alerting on critical operational thresholds.

The Solution

The streaming architecture uses Apache Kafka for real-time ingestion, Elasticsearch for indexing and search, and Grafana for visualization. Custom transformation pipelines built with dbt produce the analytical models, anomaly detection drives automated alerting, and role-based dashboards give each stakeholder group the right level of detail. Report generation and historical trend analysis run automatically.
